Settings: Channels

When delivering content via SMS, Slack, or Microsoft Teams (v2 or higher), you have the option to create specific Channels to better organize content by theme for you learners. This experience is slightly different depending on the delivery method, but the settings for all are the same.

You can have one active enrollment per channel. If you try to enroll a learner in a course in an already active channel, it will queue that course to begin once the current one has ended.

Creating Channels

To edit and create channels, go to the Organization Settings > Channels page. Select "Create new" to make a new channel. You can make up to 8 channels within the platform. If you need more channels, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager.

Your channel name will be seen by learners, so make sure to call it something that will make sense to them. You can also add a channel image, which can be shown on Microsoft Teams and SMS enrollments.

Adding Channels to a Delivery Schedule

Once you select SMS, Microsoft Teams, or Slack as a Delivery Method on a schedule, the option to add a channel will show up. Simply click on the dropdown and select the channel to assign. This will apply to all SMS, Microsoft Teams, and Slack enrollments.

SMS Channels

When you use a channel on SMS, there is a dedicated phone number associated with that channel that is used to send all content from it.

If you select "Use channel name and image as sender" on the SMS section of the Delivery Methods page, it will adjust the sender ID at the beginning of each text message to the channel name. It will also add a contact card with the name and image for the channel. Read SMS Delivery and Sender IDs for more information.

Microsoft Teams Channels

When content is sent via Channels in Microsoft Teams, it will show up in the "My Channels" section of the Teams app.

Slack Channels

When Arist channels are used via Slack, a Slack channel is created. Because these Arist channels are unique within your Slack workspace, the naming of each channel includes the Arist channel name plus a handful of unique characters. For example, a channel called "ACME Sales” may appear as ACME-sales-e334161e.

Note: Nudges will continue to be sent via the Arist app in Slack. They will not come via channels.

If you have any questions about Channels or want assistance setting them up, reach out to your Customer Success Manager or [email protected].
